Wudang Style Combat

The way of the Daoist martial artist (player) has always been the following:

As all wudang martial art is derived from the Taiji core (Taiji, Yin Yang Symbol)

- Slow and Fast form, High and Low form, Hard and Soft form.
- All Slow is wrong
- All Fast is worse
- Be like the DRAGON and move flowing and twisting
- Be like the TIGER and be stealthy, soft and quiet, ready to pounce and destroy
- Be like the CRANE and let your mind soar above the rest.
- Be connected to the EARTH where you get the energy from
- Be like FIRE and strong and powerful
- Be like WATER which is soft and yielding
- Be like METAL which is the way of form (Iron wrapped in silk)
- be like Wood (Bamboo) both soft and strong yielding and quick to return

The core studies of combat are:

Dragon:

- Both defence and attack at the same time
- Striking into the opponent not past or through
- Keeping the distance where you want it and not where the opponent wants it
- Twisting to resist being struck
- Ability to connect and link CTS Connective tissue sytem for power
- Foremost absorb, as if opponent cannot strike you then you win

Tiger:

- Coiling twisting energy
- Explosive energy
- Absorbing the strikes
- Power from the Ground as when you do get just one chance to attack then make it work

Crane:

- Silk Reeling which gives the power to all movements
- Relaxation which gives faster strikes and easier yielding from strikes
- Perfect calm mind during fighting, keeping adrenaline flow low
- Ability to handle pain, knowing you will be struck
- Keen mind, never over use attacks
- Never attack first

The path the player travels is full circle from nothingness (wuji) through slow to fast then slowing down again into wuji (nothingness). This is the path of the whole players career, and many things follow the same circle: life, driving a car, sunrise-sunset, seasons etc...
